Winning The War Within
Throughout the Bible we see mankind's constant struggle between the desire to live a holy life for God and the desire to return to sin. Paul describes this struggle as a "war" between his mind, which serves the Law of God, and His flesh, which serves the law of sin and death. As Believers, we can all relate to Paul. Even after the Israelites were miraculously delivered from Egyptian slavery, they complained to Moses and expressed their desire to return to Egypt:
"We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic." (Numbers 11:5)
We all have our own "Egypt." We all struggle with the desire to sin (and too often we give in to those desires). Indeed, in moments of temptation, it is all too easy to focus only on the temporary gratification of our "Egypt" while completely forgetting the pain, sorrow, and bondage that come with it.
